Portretconcert Cathy Van Eck, Van Doesburghuis, Frankrijk

Op zaterdag 7 december 2019 om 16:00 uur presenteert het Theo van Doesburghuis een portretconcert rond de componist, geluidskunstenaar, onderzoeker Cathy Van Eck (*1979). De middag omvat een concert, klankinstallatie en lezing door Cathy Van Eck.

Ways of Space (2019) – try-out

Op zaterdag 2 november 2019 om 16:00 uur presenteren Machiel Spaan en Rozalie Hirs hun nieuwe architectonische klankinstallatie Ways of Space (ruimtelijk ontwerp: Spaan; elektronische muziekcompositie: Hirs; 2019) aan het publiek. Tevens presenteert Fedde ten Berge (artistiek directeur van STEIM, Amsterdam) eigen werk. Na afloop van de middag is er gelegenheid voor het stellen van vragen door het publiek.

Poëziesalon, Van Doesburghuis, Meudon, Frankrijk

On Saturday 5 October 2019 Jaap Blonk is guest-of-honour at Maison Van Doesburg, Meudon Hauts-de-Seine, France. Blonk performs his own musical and poetic works, as well as poems by I.K. Bonset (pseudonym of Theo Van Doesburg). In addition, Rozalie Hirs performs her poems in Dutch, interlaced with Kim Andringa’s reading of her French translations. The event is closed by Daniel Cunin with the lecture Coups de cœur et coups de foudre selon Theo van Doesburg, interlaced with a reading of his French translations. The entrance is free. The performance language is Dutch or French (Blonk’s performance includes other, also imaginary, languages). Since the space is limited, advance reservation through an e-mail to m.spaan@m3h.nl is advised.

The event is part of the ‘Open Saturday’ series at Maison Van Doesburg, hosted by Machiel Spaan (architect) and Rozalie Hirs (composer), who are its artists-in-residence from September through December 2019. The event is inspired by the DADA poetry salons of Theo and Nelly van Doesburg – van Moorsel with Kurt Schwitters, among others, in the nineteen-twenties.

[Inviation en Français] You are cordially invited to our next afternoon salon at Van Doesburg House ‘Open Saturday III – Poetry’ on Saturday 5 October 2019 at 16:00 CET. Guest-of-honour Jaap Blonk performs his own musical and poetic works, as well as poems by I.K. Bonset (pseudonym of Theo Van Doesburg). In addition, Rozalie Hirs performs her poems in Dutch, interlaced with Kim Andringa’s reading of her French translations. meditations (2017) – Franse première

Op zaterdag 7 september 2019 om 16:00 uur presenteert de Japans-Nederlandse pianist Keiko Shichijo haar soloprogramma Meditations rond het gelijknamige stuk van de Nederlandse componist Rozalie Hirs. Deze recente compositie bereidt de akoestische klank van de piano uit met electroakoestische en elektronische klanken, die de natuurlijke resonantie van het instrument versterken. Zuiver akoestische stukken van Marcus, Feldman, Satie en Johnson completteren het programma.

2019/09/01

Artist-in-residence, Van Doesburghuis, Parijs, Frankrijk

From 1 September until 31 December 2019 composer Rozalie Hirs and architect Machiel Spaan live and work as artists-in-residence at the Van Doesburg House, Paris, France. During their stay the two create a new interdisciplinary sound architecture project together. The residency is made possible through grants from Mondriaanfonds and the Netherlands Performing Arts Fund.

The Van Doesburg House was designed by De Stijl artist and architect Theo Van Doesburg for himself and his wife, the pianist, artist, and curator Nelly van Moorsel. It is an inspiring, transformative building with movable inner walls.

Marché de la Poesie

From 8 until 9 June 2019 Rozalie Hirs is a guest poet at the 37th Marché de la Poesie, Paris, France, and as such one of the official delegates of the Netherlands Foundation for Literature. She performs during the evening programme on Saturday 8 June 2019 at 18:30 and 20:30 CET and is interviewed by Margot Dijkgraaf the following afternoon, on Sunday 9 June 2019, at 15:30 CET. The location is Scène du Marché, Place Saint-Sulpice, in front of Église Saint-Sulpice, Paris, France.

Hirs’ poems have been translated into French by Kim Andringa, Daniel Cunin, and Henri Deluy. The poems are selections from her three latest books Geluksbrenger (2008), gestamelde werken (2012), and verdere bijzonderheden (2017), published by Uitgeverij Querido|Singeluitgeverijen.

Very excited to be traveling to Paris right now as one of the official delegates of the Netherlands Foundation of Literature.
